Dear Sirs

It is our pleasure to report on the success of the recipients of the Inland Technology, Tamex and Canon Australia Country Scholarships.

Each of the students is performing admirably and is very appreciative of the support of Tamex, Inland Technology and Canon Australia.

I trust that you enjoy reading the attached report on the progress of each of the students.

I also wish to inform you that for the 2007 offering of the scholarships a means-test has been included in the eligibility criteria, in response to your wishes. The UNE Scholarships 2007 brochure and application form reflect this change.

On behalf of the University of New England, I wish to thank each of you for your ongoing support of scholarships at UNE.

Yours sincerely

• High Commendations for performance in Physics, software design, biology, English
• Team Leader and participant in Australian Chemistry Quiz, 2004, 2005
• Volunteer for numerous charities

Mitchell plans to be fully involved in University and College life.

Mitchell writes:
My first semester at UNE has been great. The computer science course I
am studying is everything I expected. It's a challenge, but at the some
time it's enjoyable. In this semester, I enjoyed the two computer subjects
that I studied the most. This was mainly due to the practical approach
where we actually got to experiment with and use what we learned in
the lectures.
The two maths subjects that I studied were more of a challenge and involved more theory. All up I've had a great semester and a good start to my course.
This semester most of my extra-curricula activities have been through
college involvement, I have participated in the inter-college sporting
activities such as the swimming carnival and the run-and-swim. I have
also endeavoured to get involved with as many college events as possible and I ran for membership into my college's JCR committee early in the semester. I hope to continue my involvement next semester.

I would like to thank Tamex Transport for their very generous
scholarship. Receiving this scholarship has enabled me to receive
great academic results, as I have been able to focus on my studies. It
has also been a great relief to my parents who are farmers and are still
suffering from the drought. I am really enjoying Agribusiness and I am
very happy with my exam results, Considering I didn't study economics
or legal studies at school I found these subjects quite a challenge.

I am loving life at St Alberts College. There is a real sense of community and pride. I was selected in the Albies A Res 3 netball team and I am proud to report that we beat Albies A Res 1, 2 and 4. 1 can't wait to
get back into netball next semester. I am also playing basketball for
Albies in the A grade team and we have won a couple of games. I
have also been involved in the inter-college sporting competition
each Sunday morning.

During the holidays 1 have had a part time job. I have also been
helping Dad out with sowing and feeding the sheep on the farm.
