FMAudit Onsite is the tool we use to automate the meter read process, which will release you from the necessity of returning meter reads to us by way of fax. Additionally, for those clients who have signed up for Managed Print Services, we use it as a tool for managing their printer fleets. This software is provided as a no-charge service to you.
How it worksFor the technically minded: FMAudit OnSite runs as a windows service and sends out SNMP requests to a pre-defined range of IP addresses. SNMP, as you will know, is the most commonly used open standards protocol for gathering information from networked devices. OnSite then collates this information, most importantly the meter reads, and sends it out to our server in Tamworth at mps.printboss.com.au, where you will have full access to all information that we have gathered by logging in to your own account. The OnSite service performs one more little task: It connects to FMAudit's server in the USA via HTTPS to check that the license is valid (we pay a license fee to run the software on your computer - there is no cost to you for this service). This means that your computer needs to be able to get out to the internet via both HTTP and HTTPS. This can be an issue where a web proxy server is in use. Why it is secureThe system uses only open standards protocols that have been tried and tested over the years. No sensitive information is ever sent back to us. Each client has their own account on our server and cannot access anyone else's information. External referenceFMAudit maintains a page about FMAudit OnSite, which contains more useful information on how this technology works. For more information on the protocols that are used, please see the relevant wikipedia pages. All the best!We trust that you will derive considerable benefit from this extraordinary software! Please also see our PrintBOSS site for information on how you can leverage this information to completely relieve you of the task of having to manage your printers and toners. Inland Technology
